Leaf Man ~ Outdoor Games

Day 2 of Outdoor Week

We read Leaf Man this morning and then went out for a walk to collect leaves, sticks, etc. to build our own Leaf Man.

This is what we saw when we walked out of the building. The deer were enjoying some time without any students on the playground.

We walked and collected items on a portion of the cross country course.

We came back and started our own Leaf Man.

In the afternoon, we went outside to play hopscotch and tic-tac-toe.

5 Senses ~ Nature Patterns

We started our Outdoor Week visiting the Kinder-Garden. We used 4 out of our 5 senses to explore the garden. These fabulous papers came home in their backpacks today.

Later in the day, we made patterns out of items we found outdoors.

Remember that next week is Outdoor Week.

Children may wear dress down clothes - appropriate for outdoor activities.


Good walking shoes are recommended because we go for walks around campus.

This is a good time to send in boots to keep at school for muddy and snowy days to come.

Dough/Donuts ~ Math Workshop

We finished up D week by eating donuts and making (play) dough. Everyone took home either some yellow dough or brown dough.

We had a math workshop this afternoon. The class was divided into 3 groups, and there were 3 stations. Everyone visited each station. Ms. Penney's station was a game called Line Up The Fives. My station was The Spider Game. The third station was playing 50 chips or another dice game. Here are the game rules/instructions and some pictures from the day.

For Dice Roll, each person rolls a dice and puts a marker in that column. The person plays until one column wins.

A Tree Visit ~ Guest Reader

We visited the tree that we are observing this year. It was a little brisk, so we didn't stay too long. We sketched the tree and then returned to the classroom to add details.

We read Quick as a Cricket and then wrote our own page. We are

We also checked out our fingerprints. We are a class of arches, loops, and whorls.
